What does PD mean in RG-CS83-48GT4XS-PD?

For RG-CS8 series switches, PD means that all downlink ports can be powered by PoE, and external redundant power modules are supported.

How is loop detection realized?

This series adopts the Rapid Link Detection Protocol (RLDP) – a link detection protocol independently developed by Ruijie Networks for rapid detection of Ethernet link failures.

Most Ethernet link detection mechanisms detect link connectivity through auto-negotiation at the physical layer based on the physical connection status.

However, such a link detection mechanism has limitations. In some cases, it cannot provide users with reliable link detection information. For example, when the Tx and Rx ends of an optical cable are incorrectly connected to an optical port, due to the configured optical fiber converter, the link on the port is still physically Up, but the Layer 2 link is Down. Here is another example. An intermediate network exists between two Ethernet devices and a relay device is deployed on the network. The same problem will occur if the relay device fails.

With RLDP, the switch can easily and quickly detect link failures, including unidirectional, bidirectional, and loop link failures.

How is the power module selected for RG-CS83-PD series GE switches?

When selecting a power module, determine the power consumption of the switch. When dual power modules are used for redundancy, the power of a single power module must be greater than the power consumption of the switch.
